Dr. Sunir Garg was on hand to give a presentation about the latest research and treatment strategies for macular degeneration. Dr. Garg informed the attentive and lively audience about the recent body of research and emerging information about treatments and diagnosis for macular degeneration. Once complete, he turned it over to the audience for a Q&A session in which the audience actively participated.
Also present was MVRF Executive Director Lea Bramnick, who was present to discuss the history and mission of the organization. Bramnick emphasized the importance of organizations such as the MVRF in disseminating the latest information, helping those affected by the disease lead their fullest possible lives and in raising funds to find a cure.
A pair of very special presentations by Mary Betty Roeder made up the second half of the seminar. Mary's first presentation focused on the depression that is often associated with a macular degeneration diagnosis. She shared stories of her own experience and provided the audience with a host of tips and strategies for rising above the onset of depression.
Mary followed her first presentation with a fantastic talk about her first-hand account of living with macular degeneration and how to not only live, but live well with the disease. Equal parts information and inspiration, Mary's talk was well received by the appreciative audience.
