When you make a charitable gift to The Macula Vision Research Foundation (MVRF) 100% of EVERY dollar you donate goes directly to fund research to find a cure for macular degeneration and other retinal related diseases. No matter how – or how much – you give, your generosity will make a difference!
BECOME A VISIONARY
How giving to MVRF monthly can impact the progress of research and provide the support to find a cure without breaking the bank.
JOIN THE CLUB. MAKE AN IMPACT. SAVE SIGHT. WELL DONE.
The Visionaries, is a new and robust monthly giving program that not only builds a strong MVRF community of engaged and invested donors, but also creates a reliable and steady stream of revenue that will allow MVRF to continue to fuel groundbreaking vision research. In joining the Visionaries Giving Circle you can have a direct impact on research by being part of a group that will fund the Visionaries Research Grant. This grant is then awarded to one of the best and brightest researches in the world to advance scientific discovery – in the hopes that we can save sight for millions.
The concept of recurring gifts is simple: donors commit to a donation amount that is paid regularly – most often monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly. Recurring gifts are safe and reliable. We make it convenient and easy for donors to participate. When signing up to be a member of the Visionaries Giving Circle you give MVRF permission to automatically charge your credit card every month for a set amount.
To join, contact Dawn Prall George, executive director, at email@example.com or 1-866-462-2852 and demonstrate your personal commitment with regular, ongoing gifts so you can give more a little at a time. To set up your recurring gift to MVRF online click here to use our secure online donation form. Thank you!
Tribute gifts are a meaningful way to memorialize the passing of a loved one or celebrate the birthday or anniversary of someone close to you while having a lasting impact. They are a thoughtful and meaningful way to show how much you care. Because macular degeneration is genetic and affects so many individuals and families around the world, MVRF is commonly named as a beneficiary of memorial or honorary gifts. Tribute gifts have a significant impact on our fundraising every year and we are grateful to families who select us as the charity of choice. Click here to learn more about tribute giving.
If you would like to mail in your tribute gift, please tell us who it is in honor of and we would be happy to send them notification upon request.
IRA – QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTION
A win, win for everyone! We want to put as many options out there as we can as a potential benefit to every donor. For those who qualify, you may want to consider an IRA charitable rollover or a qualified charitable distribution (QCD).
- This is money that individuals who are 70½ or older may direct from their traditional IRA to MVRF.
- The provision has a cap of $100,000 for charitable distributions from individual IRAs each year.
- The provision is permanent now.
- The amount transferred directly to MVRF counts toward the required minimum distribution for the year.*
- Talk to your accountant or financial advisor for more details to see if it is right for you.
A great way to make a charitable gift to MVRF! Contact Dawn Prall George, executive director at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610.234.0091 to find out more.
*This assumes that the required minimum distribution has not yet been taken.
We Will, MVRF’s planned giving program, provides you with the opportunity to make a legacy gift and include MVRF in your estate planning. You can choose to make a gift to MVRF that would provide you with life income or make a bequest. We offer a variety of gift options that expand your horizons and provides benefits that enable you to make a larger gift than originally anticipated. As with any gift to MVRF, 100% of your planned gift goes directly to fund the research.
STOCK GIFTS (MARKETABLE SECURITIES)
One of the most satisfactory ways to give a gift to MVRF, a 501(C)(3) charitable organization, is to use appreciated stock. Giving stocks, bonds, and mutual fund shares that have increased in value (and which you have owned for more than one year) provides greater tax benefits than giving cash. Not only can you deduct the full market value of the securities but, you can also avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation.
Talk to your financial advisor or broker about making a stock gift to MVRF and please contact us so we can send you a notice of transfer form with all of the pertinent information you will need to make the gift.
Does your business or employer match employee charitable contributions? If so, this is an easy way to double or even triple the impact of your donation to MVRF! Please consider taking the time to contact your Human Resources Department to find out if your employer matches charitable gifts.
OTHER WAYS TO GIVE
MVRF accepts other non-cash donations listed below. We review and evaluate these types of gifts in accordance with our gift acceptance policy.
GIFTS OF REAL ESTATE
Including personal residences, second homes, income property, and vacant land – offer a wide variety of tax and other benefits.
GIFTS OF LIFE INSURANCE
A donor can designate MVRF as the beneficiary of an existing life insurance policy. Although there is no tax deduction for making this revocable gift, your estate will be entitled to an estate tax deduction if the insurance proceeds are ultimately paid to MVRF.
GIFTS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY
This includes rare books, works of art, valuable collectibles and tangible items of demonstrable value – in some cases this may enable you to make a significant gift to support MVRF with outstanding tax benefits to you.
